- Participate in the Program
Once enrolled, your Mass Save Sponsor will automatically send a signal to your smart thermostat to precool your home before a peak demand event, and then increase your thermostat by no more than 4°F during the event.
All events will occur between 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on non-holiday weekdays between June 1 and September 30. There are typically about 15 peak events every summer, and each event lasts two to three hours.
You can maintain control of your thermostat and opt out of a peak event at any time by changing your thermostat setting.
- Receive Incentives
Residents can receive a $50 enrollment incentive and a $20 annual incentive for every thermostat connected to a central air conditioner or heat pump. There are environmental attributes, or Clean Peak Energy Credits (CPECs), associated with your participation in ConnectedSolutions events. These are assigned to the Mass Save Sponsors and their partners, which helps the Sponsors meet their legal requirements under the Massachusetts Clean Peak Standard. This has no effect on your participation incentives.
The Sponsors of Mass Save offer incentives for reducing energy usage during periods of peak electricity demand through your smart thermostat.
Through ConnectedSolutions, residents receive incentives for lowering and/or shifting electricity usage during times of peak demand (like hotter days during the summer).
By enrolling a smart thermostat, your Mass Save Sponsor will automatically send a signal to your thermostat to precool your home before a peak demand event, and then slightly increase your thermostat during the event.
