Why They Are a 2024 Climate Leader
UMass Lowell has been recognized for completing over 30 projects across more than a dozen buildings, including the Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Athletic Center, Portuguese Studies Center, and Performing Arts Center. These upgrades and improvements are expected to save over 400,000 therms of gas and nearly 8,000 megawatt hours of electricity, while reducing greenhouse gas emissions by more than 2,000 tons. This effort highlights UMass Lowell's commitment to sustainability and its proactive approach to reducing its carbon footprint and enhancing energy efficiency across its campus.
