Energy-saving Kit Sale to Benefit Gold Star Families and Returning Veterans
BOSTON, MA (November 5th, 2020) – Sponsors of Mass Save® – including Cape Light Compact, Eversource, National Grid and Unitil – and Massachusetts Fallen Heroes (MFH) are collaborating for the fifth year in a row to run an energy-saving lighting sale that benefits Gold Star Families and returning Veterans. This year’s sale runs through November 30 and offers a 17-piece kit filled with a variety of LED bulbs, including two smart LEDs, a desk lamp and no-cost priority shipping for the discounted price of $10. Half of all the proceeds from each kit sold will be donated back to MFH to continue to support its programs.
The $10 lighting kits that support local heroes are available online at MassSave.com/MAFallenHeroes.
Each kit includes six dimmable globe or candle LEDs, four 60W A19 LEDs, four 100W A19 LEDs, two Wi-Fi enabled smart LEDs and one LED desk lamp and will be delivered with priority shipping at no extra cost. These kits are available to customers at an over 90% discount as part of the Mass Save lighting program, which, through the efforts of the Mass Save Sponsors, works to make energy-efficient lighting affordable and accessible to Massachusetts electric customers. By participating in this sale, customers can save money on electric costs, help Massachusetts move closer to its energy-efficiency goals, and support local Gold Star Families and Veterans.
"Mass Save has been an instrumental partner with Massachusetts Fallen Heroes since 2016,” said Daniel Magoon, Executive Director of Massachusetts Fallen Heroes. “This partnership has grown immensely since inception, and we are proud to continue the relationship as our mission continues to grow. As a Massachusetts-focused non-profit, this unique fundraising campaign with Mass Save enables Mass Fallen Heroes to reach all 351 communities of the Commonwealth, sharing our mission to Honor the Fallen, Support Gold Star families, and Empower Veterans."
“Collaborating with Massachusetts Fallen Heroes on the LED sale for the past five years has been such a meaningful way for the Sponsors of Mass Save to give back to the community and the incredible local Gold Star Families and Veterans that MFH serves each and every day,” David Moreira, Director of Customer Solutions NE at National Grid. “We are honored to continue growing our partnership with MFH while simultaneously helping to increase the accessibility and affordability of energy efficiency measures for the state’s electric customers.”
Over the past four years, this partnership has resulted in the sale of 444,000 LEDs and raised more than $200,000 for Massachusetts Fallen Heroes. Funds generated by these sales support multiple MFH programs including a scholarship program for siblings of the Fallen, the Veteran’s Edge Program, which connects local Veterans with legal, employment, medical and housing services, and annual weekend retreats for Gold Star Families that focus on supporting their wellness and fostering a sense of community.
