Mass Save® Sponsors Announce Rebates on Battery-Powered Lawn Equipment Purchases

April 08, 2022

(BOSTON) April 8th, 2022 - Just in time for spring, the Mass Save® Sponsors today announced new rebates for battery-powered lawn equipment, encouraging residents to take a cleaner approach to yard work.

Eligible customers who purchase new electric lawnmowers, leaf blowers, string trimmers, and chain saws can apply for a rebate on MassSave.com. These rebates are the newest clean energy incentives offered through the Sponsors of Mass Save.

“These rebates offer customers an opportunity to begin the transition to a more electric future” said Chris Porter, Director of Customer Energy Management at National Grid. “Switching to battery-operated equipment is an easy way to reduce carbon emissions and make a positive impact on public health and the environment”

The rebates are part of a robust three-year Energy Efficiency Plan that will provide an estimated $9 billion in benefits to the Commonwealth in support of a clean energy future, including significant new program support for customers who want to transition from fossil fuel use to electrification.

“Mass Save continues to help Massachusetts residents improve the energy efficiency of their homes, saving them money and reducing our collective carbon emissions,” said Representative Jeffrey R. Roy, House Chair of the Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities, & Energy. “This newest rebate for electric lawn equipment will empower people to further reduce their carbon emissions by helping them make green purchases that will improve air quality, reduce noise, and contribute to our transition to a cleaner energy future.”

These rebates are only available for residential electric customers where the Mass Save Program is offered by Cape Light Compact, Eversource, National Grid, and Unitil. To take advantage of the rebates, residents must save their receipt and fill out a rebate application on MassSave.com. Eligible residents will receive $75 off their battery-powered lawnmower purchase and $30 off their purchase of battery-powered leaf blowers, string trimmers, and chainsaws.
