Financing is available for a variety of energy-efficient upgrades—including insulation, heat pump installations, batteries, and more.

Effective January 1, 2025, the maximum financeable amount for the Mass Save HEAT Loan will be $25,000.

Through the Mass Save HEAT Loan Program, you may be eligible to receive 0% financing up to $25,000 for qualifying energy-efficiency upgrades. If you are installing heat pump(s), you may qualify for 0% financing up to $50,000 for qualifying energy-efficiency upgrades. Please reference details within the chart below as well as the HEAT Loan Packet for complete eligibility details.

Note: The maximum loan amount is over the lifetime of a customer’s energy efficiency upgrades. Eligible energy efficiency measures can be financed until the maximum loan amount is reached.


  1. Confirm Eligibility

    View the Eligibility Tab to confirm the eligible requirements.

  2. Find a Participating Contractor

    Choose a participating contractor for your energy efficiency project. Make sure to get a signed proposal from the contractor on their official letterhead. We recommend getting multiple quotes from licensed and insured contractors before making your choice.

  3. Complete Your Loan Application

    Enter your zip code and heating fuel type below to start your application. You will need to include your signed contractor proposal and any additional required documentation. If your project meets the eligibility requirements, you will receive an Authorization Form.

  1. Secure Your Loan 

    Submit your completed Authorization Form to a selected participating lender. If approved, the lender will provide you with a two-party check made payable to you and your contractor. View the Participating Lenders Tab for a list of lenders who are offering loans up to $50,000.

  2. Complete Upgrades & Apply for Rebate

    Once your energy efficiency project is complete, you can pay your contractor by signing over the bank check from the lender. Visit MassSave.com/savings to apply for any available rebates.

  3. Complete a Verification Inspection

    Call 866-527-SAVE (7283) for details on completing this required verification.

  • The HEAT Loan is available to qualified customers participating in the Mass Save Program
  • Loan applicant must be the homeowner
  • Residents must have a current residential electric or gas account with Berkshire Gas, Cape Light Compact, Eversource, Liberty Utilities, National Grid, or Unitil
  • Municipal electric customers can take advantage of the HEAT Loan offer if their home is heated with natural gas, provided by a Mass Save Sponsor
  • Financing is only available for qualifying energy-efficient improvements outlined within the HEAT Loan Guide
  • Financing is contingent upon loan approval from a participating lender
