May 16, 2023The Sponsors of Mass Save® Launch Applications for Third Cohort of the Community Education Grant
Grants aim to increase awareness and access to energy efficiency programs and opportunities
BOSTON (May 16, 2023) – The Sponsors of Mass Save® are pleased to announce that applications are now open for the third cohort of the Mass Save Community Education Grant, an initiative that supports energy efficiency-focused education and programming opportunities in Environmental Justice Communities (EJCs). This continued effort by the Sponsors of Mass Save will help equitably reduce carbon footprint across communities and help with Commonwealth reach its goal of a net zero future.
Funding, ranging between $5,000 to $25,000, will be awarded to community-based organizations to increase literacy efforts and program access for renters, landlords, English isolated customers, K-12 student organizations, and income-eligible individuals. Applicants must participate in an annual program progress evaluation and collaborate with the Sponsors of Mass Save Sponsors to create initiatives that will engage residents in energy efficiency education. While the application is open to all organizations that meet eligibility requirements, priority will be given to those in EJCs.
Selected grant recipients may receive:
- Training on the Mass Save programs with a particular focus on offerings for income qualified customers and renters
- Assistance planning local events
- Periodic recorded training sessions by content experts on energy efficiency offerings and best practicies
- Access to a utility company account manager to maximize energy efficiency opportunities in municipal buildings
- Mass Save Marketing collateral options to distribute describing the various program offerings
"The Community Education Grant is a critical component of the Mass Save Three-Year Energy Efficiency Plan and the Sponsors' commitment to ensuring that the transition to a clean energy future is possible for all communities across Massachusetts," said Eversource Director for Residential Energy Efficiency Kate Peters. "Our goal in educating residents on energy efficiency is to provide information on program offerings that will empower them to reduce their own carbon footprints."
